I've always looked forward to summer because it means fresh fruit, light drinks, and constant entertaining. After all, no one feels like inviting everyone over in the dead of winter, when you'd rather be bundled up in blankets.
I can't think of anything better. Hot Fudge Bourbon Milkshakes [discovered on Pinterest, adapted from Imbibe Mag] makes 2 big shakes 1 1/2 cups vanilla ice cream 1/2 cup milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 ounces bourbon 1/2 cup hot fudge + 2 tablespoons At the bottom of each glass, add 2-3 tablespoons of hot fudge.
Give me a second, I'm just reflecting on the fact that this is going to be the last weekend of summer. Minnesota in the fall might be the most divine places on earth, but, ugh. Summer. WHY. The struggle is real. Regrouping in 3... 2...
I have your Monday morning solution. You know I love something when I recreate it a little over 24 hours after consumption. It's Monday. It's weird. I'm sharing drink instead of food. I'm switching it up! Forcing myself out of the creative mehness. Because pouring cream into coffee is sooooo creative.
The summer is finally here, hurrah! What better way to celebrate than inviting some friends over for a spot of Mexican food and learning to shake up the perfect Mojito? (There may also have been a Mexican restaurant playlist involved as the soundtrack. True story.) The recipe we used is here: 5.0 from 1 reviews...
This St. Patrick's Day-appropriate cocktail is way better than green beer. The whiskey is light and almost floral, and the amaro is spicy and rich. Fresh lemon gives the drink a punch of refreshing sour flavor, and the drink finishes up with the whiskey's bite and a little bitterness from the amaro.
If using the grill: Soak 3 wooden skewers in water for at least 1 hour. Light one chimney full of charcoal. When all the charcoal is lit and covered with gray ash, pour out and arrange the coals on one side of the charcoal grate.
For today's recipe I teamed up with a few of my favorite people -- Sarah from Snixy Kitchen and Alanna from The Bojon Gourmet. Not only are Sarah and Alanna incredibly talented food bloggers, but they're also two of the loveliest people I've ever met.
Let me start by saying that I rarely drink anything other than water and milk. I know, so strange. But the reason is I'm just not a big fan of drinking my calories (I'd rather eat them). These watermelon meyer lemon slushies are an exception. They're ice cold, refreshing, and bursting with watermelon flavor.
Having an organic farmer that shows up at your door every Wednesday afternoon with the freshest, yummiest and most in-season foods is literally a dream come true for this girl. It's like my own personal Food Network show where I am given a box of random ingredients and I have to create something delicious with them.
