For my birthday this year, I decided I wanted to be low key. I figured since I've already started selectively forgetting how old I am, it's probably silly to make a big deal about my "special day" with the usual group dinner party/bar-hopping extravaganza.
I can't even with this. This is whole wheat French toast with PEAR CHUTNEY and MASCARPONE. Do you even see that white melty creamy stuff on the French toast that looks like butter only better? Look at it and study it because it's how you're going to make all your French toast dreams happen in real life.
Want to feed your little one more veggie but have not much a success? Then be creative and use your imagination to create some edible arts. Make them together with your kids, they would love to eat up their own creation, most likely.
Growing up in New England, Memorial Day always signaled the opening of the seasonal homemade ice cream shops. These were the kind of shops, where the cows would be roaming in the back and the same people worked every summer. After a long winter, there was nothing better than a freshly made double scoop of your favorite ice cream.
When summer fruit is at its peak, a Cherry Berry pie is a delicious way to use it up. If you can, use fruit from your local farmer's market (or even your own garden), since it will taste better the fresher it is.
It's like this: I ❤ Tex-Mex. I've always loved Mexican food (read: an excuse to douse food in salsa) and my food senses will always steer me in the direction of a Mexican restaurant when it's that glorious time to do my favorite thing of all time which is called Go Out to Eat.
Perhaps it's the European in me, or particularly the Maltese portion, that craves and enjoys denser cakes. What a change from the sky-high fluffy layer cakes I so enjoy creating, but wow, so quick, easy, and tasty. I bought a great Bundt pan (it was hard to choose a style, since they are seemingly endless!)
Growing up, this was my favorite weeknight dinner on my mother's normal weeknight rotation The best part was that she would make an enormous pot of it so I knew I could enjoy it for days later. Similar to chili, it tastes better as the days go by and the flavors develop.
One of life's more important questions: If you were a Disney princess which one would you want to be? Sometimes I want to be Jasmine, running around the house in my glittery balloon pants (classy PJ pants), showing the sultan who's boss, and chilling with my awesome cat.
I love mint and pistachios and really, pesto is of the gods. I'm going to serve this with grilled steaks, tortillas and corn tonight! I also think it'd be fantastic with grilled peaches!
