Cheers to another weekend! Earlier in the week my mom and I went to the movies. When we walked out of the theater around 9:15 p.m., it was still light out. All I could think was, "Woooah." This, my friends, is why I'm crazy about summer.
If I didn't need to work in order to pay my bills, I would probably sit on my porch all summer long eating or drinking something delicious, listening to music, and watching the traffic on my street. In my opinion, it doesn't get much better or more simple than that.
I love summer vacations. Some of my greatest memories are from trips taken during the summer. Road trips to visit national parks when I was a kid, lazy days spent at my family's cabin, and more recent trips of cruises in the Mediterranean and fancy beach houses on the East Coast.
Have you ever had one of those weeks where you're weren't sure you were going to make it through? Where a random vein in your arm is twitching for no reason and interacting with other human beings is just not a good idea. Do you know what I mean?
The tables have turned. I'm no longer going to settle for a shot of booze in my banana bread or a heavy handed splash in a key lime tart. I'm a fan of liquoring up my desserts, but I think I'm going to do things different from now on.
So this is a bit of a hefty post partially because I have a lot of links and a sub-recipe here, but also because this spring strawberry sangria was taken on the first real spring day when the sun was out and my windows were open. I just couldn't stop clicking away.
